Culver City Mayor Yasmine-Imani McMorrin Believes Police Harms Community

The Culver City Police Department continues to diligently serve the community, responding to over 46,957 calls in 2023, with an impressive average emergency response time of just 4:14 minutes. Despite these very strong numbers that demonstrate how dedicated our police are to helping people, Mayor Yasmine-Imani McMorrin has portrayed law enforcement as harmful during her campaign for re-election.

At the Culver City Democratic Club forum on June 2, 2024, Mayor Yasmine-Imani McMorrin, portrayed the police as ‘furthering harm’ to the community.

McMorrin has also frequently pledged her support for defunding the police, raising concerns about her commitment to public safety and community support.

Here is her full statement on refusing endorsements: "I don't know if these people are knocking down the door to say, 'Hang on, we're going to support you.' You know, law enforcement, oil, guns, developer, everything from last go-round, same for this year. [...] I just don't want to have any involvement with folks that are furthering harm to our community and to our society."

Mayor Yasmine-Imani McMorrin's stance has sparked debates over her priorities, especially as it relates to police funding and public safety.

Voters must stay informed to make decisions that affect the safety and well-being of our community.

The Culver City Police Department continues to perform exceptionally under difficult conditions, making it all the more important to stay informed about this topic, as it typically features in elections.
